As reported in the Simi Valley Acorn newspaper, a Simi Valley roofing company has just been convicted on two counts of felony workers compensation insurance fraud, for underreporting their payroll for several years.
 
The owner of the roofing company not only had to pay restitution to the insurance company, but will also be sentenced in a couple weeks to potential jail time.
 
As the District attorney said ” Workers Compensation premium fraud is not a victimless crime. It allows unscrupulous businesses to gain an unfair advantage over their competition..”
 
When reporting your end of the WC policy period audit, please make sure you correctly report your payrolls, to avoid any potential legal actions.
